EDU 305 Teacher-Child Conversation in the Preschool Classroom

“Children learn how conversations work by observing and interacting with adults, who are accomplished speakers of the language”. I support this quote and believe that it is so true because children do learn by observing others. They can visualize and listen to how adults interact and learn how to understand the aspect of conversations. This can develop the child’s skills.

Teaching with Graphic Novels

Jennifer DeFeo’s social studies class, from the reading, explained her reasoning for utilizing graphic novels in order to promote “building vocabulary via context clues”. This struck me as interesting and valuable because the utilization of graphic novels opens up another dimension within a literacy class. Readers who struggle with prose books can use graphic novels to become aware of the clues in a literary book.

Participate Performance Task Metaphors Matter!

I believe storytelling is a way through which a story can be told and presented. Alchemy could be described as a process of creation and transformation. The way a storyteller can transform a story can truly have an impact on their audience and aid in engaging the listeners. Storytellers could be deemed as alchemists because of the magical processes that may be chosen to develop transformation and creation in a story, as well as the delivery of it.

Goals for EDU 307

My goals for the class include becoming more knowledgeable about Children’s Literature and Literacy. I want to become more comfortable with learning about the subject and teaching it. I believe it will be the most effective if I truly believe in what I am doing. My goal as a writer is to transform my writing into a deeper concept. The more skills I obtain, the stronger my writing techniques can be.
